These are active overnight roles providing support to children and young people with complex medical, disability and high-intensity support needs, including some young people receiving palliative care. Depending on the young person you are supporting, duties may include active overnight monitoring and support, providing 1:1 complex supports, and responding appropriately to medical concerns and emergencies.
Key responsibilities
- Active overnight monitoring and support
- Providing 1:1 complex supports
- PEG/PEJ enteral feeding and associated care
- Oxygen therapy
- Suctioning
- Medication support
- Seizure management and implementation of emergency plans
- Personal care and continence support
- Mealtime and feeding support
- Monitoring for changes in health or presentation
About you
- Extremely reliable and committed to roster
- Methodical and able to follow detailed care plans and procedures
- Calm and confident in complex situations
- Observant and able to recognise changes in a young person's presentation
- Comfortable working active overnight shifts
- Professional and able to maintain robust boundaries and confidentiality
- Compassionate while remaining clinically focused
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a well-supported team
- High standard of spoken and written English essential due to complexity of clinical instructions, emergency communication, handovers and mandatory documentation
- RRHAN Training, Hand Hygiene, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, Online Medication Training, Certificate of Completion of NDIS Worker, Certificate of Infection Control Training, Certificate of Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals Training, NDIS Worker Screening Check, Police Check National Crime Check, Driver's License, Right to work in Australia, and ability to complete Nurturing Gnomes mandatory induction and participant-specific training
