Nazri Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Alterations specialist to join our team on a casual basis. Based in Brisbane, QLD 4000, this role is perfect for experienced tailors and dressmakers who take pride in delivering high-quality alterations and modifications to a diverse range of garments. You will work flexibly as needed, providing expert craftsmanship to our valued clients whilst maintaining the exceptional standards Nazri Pty Ltd is known for.
Key responsibilities
- Assess garments and discuss alteration requirements with clients to understand their specific needs and preferences
- Perform precise alterations including hemming, taking in seams, adjusting waistbands, and modifying sleeve lengths
- Execute specialised alterations such as zip replacements, dart adjustments, and fabric repairs with meticulous attention to detail
- Operate and maintain various sewing equipment and tools to ensure optimal working condition
- Take accurate measurements of garments and clients to ensure alterations fit correctly
- Meet quality standards and delivery timescales agreed with clients
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment and keep detailed records of completed alterations
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a tailor, dressmaker, or alterations specialist with a strong portfolio of previous work
- Expert proficiency in hand sewing and machine sewing techniques
- Comprehensive knowledge of different fabric types and their properties
- Ability to take precise measurements and read pattern adjustments accurately
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing flawless finished garments
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a casual working arrangement
- Physical capability to perform repetitive tasks and work at a sewing station for extended periods
- Flexibility to adapt to varying workload demands and client timescales
