About the role
We are seeking a qualified Boilermaker to join our manufacturing team at our Loganholme, QLD workshop.
This is a full-time, hands-on position involving the fabrication, welding and assembly of overhead cranes, crane components and structural steel products.
Working alongside our experienced manufacturing team, you'll be involved in a variety of projects from fabrication through to final assembly. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Boilermaker looking for a stable, long-term position within the crane and lifting industry.
Key responsibilities
- Fabricate, weld and assemble overhead cranes, crane components and structural steel products
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans and fabrication specifications
- Measure, mark, cut, drill and prepare steel accurately to required specifications
- Perform MIG welding and other welding processes as required
- Carry out structural steel fabrication and assembly
- Operate workshop machinery, hand tools and power tools safely
- Operate overhead cranes and hoists to safely move steel, materials and components
- Perform fit-up, bolting, fastening and assembly of fabricated components
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets drawings, specifications and quality standards
- Identify and rectify fabrication or welding issues where required
- Work independently and as part of the manufacturing team to meet production deadlines
- Maintain tools, welding equipment and work areas in good condition
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop
- Follow all WHS requirements, safe work procedures and company policies
- Assist and provide guidance to Trade Assistants when required
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced Boilermaker who is reliable, safety-focused and takes pride in producing quality work.
The successful applicant will ideally have:
- Australian-recognised Boilermaker/Fabrication trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent)
- Previous experience in structural steel, heavy fabrication, manufacturing or a similar workplace
- Strong welding and fabrication skills
- Experience with MIG welding
- Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings
- Strong measuring, marking, cutting and fit-up skills
- Experience using fabrication equipment, hand tools and power tools
- Valuable attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights, Dogging or relevant High Risk Work licences are advantageous
- Experience within the crane, lifting,
structural steel or heavy engineering industry would be highly regarded
- Flexibility to work reasonable overtime when required
