Controlworks is looking for an experienced Commissioning Technician / Engineer to join our Projects team in Melbourne.

This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on commissioning, testing and tuning Building Management Systems (BMS). You will work across data centres, commercial buildings, healthcare, education and industrial projects.

The role

n

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, subcontractors and clients, you will:

n

- Commission BMS installations against project specifications and sequences.
n
- Configure and test BMS controllers, field devices and networks.
n
- Complete point-to-point testing and verify field wiring and I/O.
n
- Functionally test HVAC plant and associated control systems.
n
- Tune and optimise control strategies for system performance.
n
- Troubleshoot hardware, software and communication issues.
n
- Work with BACnet, Modbus and IP-based networks.
n
- Support FAT, SAT, system integration and final client handover.
n
- Complete commissioning records, checklists and defect documentation.
n
- Assist with client demonstrations and operator familiarisation.
n
- Work safely under company HSEQ requirements and site procedures.

About you

n

You have practical BMS commissioning experience and strong fault-finding skills.



You understand HVAC systems and can confidently interpret control drawings, electrical schematics and sequences of operation.

Essential requirements include:

n

n
- Demonstrated BMS commissioning experience.
n
- Solid knowledge of HVAC and mechanical services.
n
- Experience commissioning BMS controllers and field devices.
n
- Solid technical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
n
- Understanding of building automation communication protocols.
n
- Ability to manage multiple commissioning activities.
n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
n
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
n
- White Card.
n
- Full Australian working rights.
n

Highly regarded

n

Experience or qualifications in the following areas would be advantageous:

n

n
- Electrical Trade or Engineering qualification.
n
- Niagara N4, Alerton, Honeywell, Distech or Schneider Electric.
n
- BACnet, Modbus, KNX and IP networking.
n
- EWP, Working at Heights or First Aid certification.
n

What to expect

n

The role is primarily site-based across Greater Melbourne, with regular travel between project sites. Some commissioning activities may require work outside standard business hours.

n

You will join an experienced Projects and Engineering team delivering technically demanding BMS projects from commissioning through to successful client handover.
