Bushfire Control Officer

Permanent, Full Time Opportunity

Salary Range - $81,189 - $87,269 plus superannuation (depending on skills and experience)

Due to an internal promotion, the City of Mitcham is looking for an experienced and dedicated Bushfire Control Officer to help perform bushfire mitigation works for our community.

Are you a pro at removing woody weeds and pest plants? Do you know how to handle a brush cutter? Are you passionate about making our community safer?

The Role This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Bushfire Control team to undertake activities such as:

- firebreak maintenance
- bushfire track clearance




- weed and pest plant control
- seasonal fuel reduction programs
- tube stock planting and establishment, and
- bush care and vegetation management within our highly valued Grey Box woodland areas

About You To be successful in this role you will have:

- Cert III in Conservation and Land Management (or equivalent experience).
- MR Drivers Licence.
- Chainsaw Ticket.
- Work Zone Traffic Management Certificate.
- Experience in bushfire mitigation, vegetation management, or similar field-based work.
- High level of knowledge in plant identification and weed control methods.
- Experience operating and maintaining plant and equipment safely.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage workloads in a dynamic environment.
