About the role:
MTC is developing a significant portfolio of strategic and digital change, as well as having a broad requirement for operational and process improvement. The Business Improvement Specialist role provides hands-on business improvement capability across strategic programs, projects and local improvement activities.
Forming part of the Enterprise Projects & Change Function and reporting to the National Manager, Program Delivery, our Business Improvement Specialist role is intended to support enterprise transformation, high-priority projects and operational improvements by identifying and implementing opportunities for efficiency, standardisation, automation and simplification.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness and service delivery
- Facilitate process reviews and improvement workshops
- Analyse existing workflows and operating practices
- Lead root cause analysis activities
- Lead small to medium business improvement projects
- Coordinate implementation of operational improvements
- Provide support to Project Managers, Change Managers and Business Analysts on complex projects
- Analyse operational performance information
- Support development of performance measures and KPIs
- Identify trends, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
- Prepare reports, recommendations and business cases
- Build effective relationships with operational and functional leaders
- Facilitate workshops and consultation sessions
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement
Key experience:
- Demonstrated experience in business improvement, process improvement, operational excellence or transformation environments
- Experience reviewing and redesigning business processes
- Experience facilitating workshops and stakeholder engagement activities
- Experience implementing operational improvements and change initiatives
- Experience developing business cases, reports and recommendations
- Experience working across multiple stakeholder groups and business functions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Excellent process mapping and workflow analysis skills
- Strong workshop facilitation skills
- Ability to challenge existing practices constructively
- Robust proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications and the practical use of AI tools.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Human Resources, Operations, Management, Information Systems or related discipline (desirable)
- Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, Process Improvement or similar certification (desirable)
- Project management or business analysis certification (desirable)
