Coho Group is seeking a capable and forward-thinking Business Systems & Technology Specialist to help improve the way we use technology, systems, automation and digital tools across our business.
This is a broad, hands-on role focused on business systems, technology projects and improving productivity and efficiency. You will work closely with management and operational teams to identify opportunities, coordinate projects and help turn ideas into practical solutions.
As part of a relatively small corporate team, you will be expected to wear multiple hats. We do not expect one person to be a technical expert in every area. An key part of the role will be knowing when to solve something internally and when to engage and manage external specialists.
The position will be primarily office based, with occasional travel to Roma and other remote locations to work directly with our operational teams.
About Coho Group
Coho Group provides specialist products, services and technical solutions to the Australian energy and resources sector. Our businesses operate across a range of oil and gas services, transport, inspection and product sales, supporting major operators throughout Queensland from our Brisbane and Roma locations.
Innovation and continuous improvement are important to us. We are investing in better systems, automation and technology to improve efficiency, support our teams and enable the continued growth of the business.
About the Role
You will help coordinate and deliver technology and business improvement projects across the organisation. A key part of the role will be working with different teams to understand how they operate and identifying opportunities to create or implement tools that improve productivity, reduce manual work and simplify business processes.
Some projects may be delivered directly by you, while others will require coordination of external IT providers, software developers, consultants or other specialists.
Key responsibilities will include
- Coordinating business systems and technology improvement projects
- Leading projects such as transitioning company drives and document management to SharePoint and Microsoft 365
- Reviewing business processes and identifying opportunities for automation and improvement
- Working with teams to develop or implement tools that improve productivity and efficiency
- Supporting the practical adoption of AI and AI-assisted tools across the business
- Coordinating internally developed and AI-assisted applications and workflows
- Building or assisting with simple internal tools, automations and workflows where appropriate
- Engaging and managing external developers, IT providers and technology specialists for more complex requirements
- Helping ensure internally and externally developed solutions are secure, reliable, documented and maintainable
- Supporting appropriate governance around systems, automation, AI and internally developed applications
- Managing software platforms, subscriptions, licences and renewals
- Coordinating the procurement and setup of laptops, phones, SIM cards and other technology equipment
- Maintaining documentation for key systems, applications and technology projects
- Providing general IT assistance where required, with routine and specialist IT support also supported by external providers
About You
We are looking for a technology generalist with strong problem-solving, communication and project coordination skills. You should be comfortable working with both technical and non-technical people and able to understand a business problem,
investigate the available options and help deliver a practical solution.
You do not need to be a software developer, infrastructure engineer, cybersecurity specialist and IT support technician all in one. More important is having enough technical understanding to determine the right approach, coordinate the right people and take ownership of the outcome.
Experience in several of the following areas would be highly regarded:
- Business systems implementation and technology projects
- Microsoft 365, SharePoint and OneDrive
- Business process improvement and workflow automation
- Power Automate, Power Apps or similar platforms
- AI tools and AI-assisted development
- Low-code/no-code development
- Software implementation and SaaS platforms
- APIs, databases or system integrations
- Managing technology vendors, contractors or consultants
- Cybersecurity and data governance fundamentals
- Scripting or software development
A relevant qualification in IT, business systems, software or a related field would be advantageous but is not essential where suitable experience can be demonstrated.
Why Join Coho?
This is an opportunity to take ownership of technology improvement within a growing Australian business and work directly with management and operational teams. You will have broad exposure across the organisation and the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects — from business systems and automation through to AI-assisted tools, SharePoint, internal applications and technology procurement.
The role offers significant variety and the opportunity to make a visible impact on how the business operates.
If you enjoy solving business problems, improving systems and using technology to make organisations more productive and efficient, we would like to hear from you.
Apply through SEEK with your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience with business systems, technology projects, automation or process improvement.
