Finished school and ready to start a trade?
Distinctive Wardrobes is looking for a Cabinet Making Apprentice to join our Bathurst team. This is an opportunity to earn while you learn, complete your Certificate III in Cabinet Making, and develop practical skills you can build a career around.
You don't need previous cabinet making or factory experience. We're looking for someone who is reliable, practical, willing to learn and takes pride in doing a job properly.
You'll work alongside experienced team members and learn how we manufacture wardrobes and other products using modern machinery, prefinished board, aluminium, mirrors and glass.
What You'll Learn
As your skills develop, you'll learn to:
- Manufacture and assemble wardrobe components and finished products
- Operate machinery including our beam saw, Biesse CNC drilling machine and edgebander
- Read measurements, plans and job information accurately
- Work with cabinetry materials, aluminium, mirrors and glass
- Check the quality and finish of completed products
- Safely use tools, machinery and factory equipment
- Pack and prepare completed jobs for installation and transport
- Understand the full production process from materials through to finished product
There's plenty to learn, and we don't expect you to know it all on day one. We'll teach you.
Who We're Looking For
You could be a outstanding fit if you:
- Have recently finished school or are looking to start a trade
- Enjoy practical, hands-on work
- Like making things and seeing a finished result
- Are willing to listen, ask questions and learn
- Pay attention to measurements and small details
- Turn up on time and can be relied upon
- Work well as part of a small team
- Are comfortable using tools and learning how machinery works
No previous trade experience is required. Experience from school subjects, work experience, a casual job, TAFE or simply working on practical projects at home is all worth telling us about.
The Apprenticeship
- Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Complete a Certificate III in Cabinet Making while working
- Get paid while gaining your qualification
- Hands-on training with experienced tradespeople
- Learn to use modern production machinery and equipment
- Develop skills across different products and materials
- Opportunity to build a long-term career with Distinctive Wardrobes
This is an active, hands-on role and does involve lifting and handling wardrobe components, panels and other materials. Heavier items are handled as a team.
Applying
If you're finishing school, have recently left school, or simply know that you'd rather learn a trade and work with your hands, we'd like to hear from you. Send us your resume and tell us:
1. Why you're interested in a cabinet making apprenticeship.
2. Any practical subjects, work experience, jobs, hobbies or projects you've done.
3. Why you think you'd be a good fit for our team.
Don't worry if your resume is short – we're not expecting years of experience. We're looking for the right person and attitude. Our process may include a short phone chat, interview, reference checks and a paid practical trial.
