Your opportunity
Join Mission Australia's Residential Aged Care team and play an important role in supporting the health, wellbeing and quality of life of our residents.
As a Care and Wellness Assistant at Benjamin Short Grove in Orange, you'll play an important role in supporting residents' health, wellbeing, independence and quality of life. Working closely with nursing and care teams, you'll provide personal care, medication assistance, wellbeing support and meaningful day-to-day engagement that helps residents feel safe, respected and connected.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about aged care and enjoys building genuine relationships with residents. You'll be part of a supportive team that values compassion, dignity and holistic care while helping residents live as independently and meaningfully as possible. The role also offers the chance to mentor and support colleagues while contributing to a positive team environment.
We currently have shifts available across a 24/7 rotating roster, including 6:30 am - 2:36 pm, 10 am – 6 pm, 2:30 pm - 10:36 pm and 10:30 pm - 6:36 am, offering flexibility, variety and the opportunity to build a rewarding career in aged care.
Your key responsibilities will be to
- Provide personal care and support with daily living activities including mobility, nutrition, hydration and wellbeing.
- Assist with medication administration and delegated clinical care activities within your scope of practice.
- Monitor residents' health and wellbeing and promptly report changes or concerns.
- Support residents to participate in lifestyle and wellness activities that promote independence, purpose and social connection.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to care planning and handovers.
- Provide guidance and support to team members to promote quality care practices.
- Help create a safe, welcoming and homelike environment where residents are treated with dignity, respect and compassion.
Requirements for success
- Certificate IV in Aged Care (or equivalent) including a medication module/competency.
- Experience working in aged care, mental health, disability support or a similar care environment.
- Demonstrated experience assisting with medication administration.
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a team.
- Understanding of person-centred care, infection control and workplace health and safety practices.
- A genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing and quality of life of older Australians.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
