United Petroleum is an independent, Australian-owned petrol and convenience company offering customers premium-quality fuels and competitive pricing Australia-wide.

This key Category Manager position forms part of our broader Merchandise and Marketing team and is accountable for overseeing a number of key categories associated with United Petroleum’s extensive coffee and food service program across our Quickstop convenience stores and Pie Face QSR.

This role requires someone with strong capability in managing proprietary stock lines with our food service partner, together with demand planning to ensure appropriate stock holdings and the ability to negotiate key commercial terms.

About the Role

- Lead food service, Pie Face and roadhouse menu innovation, ensuring our menus remain fresh, relevant and provide a unique selling proposition for both new and existing customers.
- Effectively manage SKUs held exclusively for United, including forecasting for distribution centres through our food service distribution partners, ensuring exposure is minimised while maintaining sufficient stock levels.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, lead product and pricing negotiations, and manage the sourcing of product lines within your categories.
- Manage the coffee program across United and Pie Face, including reviewing and evolving the menu offering, together with associated pricing and promotional activity in collaboration with the Marketing team.
- Review cost pricing and set and adjust retail pricing to optimise profitability and competitiveness, while ensuring margins for our operators are maximised.
- Work with the wider Category team to develop periodic promotional offers as part of the campaign calendar, both in-store and as app exclusives.




- Work collaboratively with the Master Data/POS Programming and Data Analytics teams to ensure databases remain current and reporting provides meaningful insights into category performance, enabling informed decisions across ranging, planograms, margin management and promotional programs.
- Across Pie Face and Roadhouse, ensure quality, safety and compliance with company policies, food safety regulations and legislative requirements, with appropriate systems in place to support effective execution across our sites.

About You Ideally, the successful candidate will possess:

- Demonstrated experience as a Category Manager/Buyer, with exposure to managing and forecasting stock within food service/distribution environments and building solid relationships with suppliers and other key stakeholders.
- Experience working within the coffee, QSR or convenience store sector, together with a willingness to spend time in market visiting sites, capturing key learnings and identifying opportunities to continuously improve how we do business.
- The ability to navigate and perform effectively within an agile, fast-paced and ever-evolving environment, with a strong emphasis on accountability and execution.
- Sound financial and commercial acumen, including the ability to analyse data and make informed decisions across pricing, ranging, merchandising and marketing.
- Strong leadership capability, together with exceptional communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- A hands-on team player who is prepared to walk the walk, not just talk the talk
