Partnering with Kenworth Trucks, Alstom and other major customers for their assembly and manufacturing requirements. We are the largest supplier to Kenworth Trucks (the leading manufacturer of premium Commercial Trucks sold around the world).
We are looking for a skilled CNC Programmer / Machinist (Afternoon Shift) working in our fabrication division, responsible for programming, setting, operating and maintaining CNC machinery to support the efficient manufacture of products in accordance with customer specifications, quality standards and production requirements. The position is responsible for reading and interpreting technical drawings and design specifications, creating and modifying CNC programs, selecting suitable tooling, setting machine parameters, operating CNC equipment and conducting quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process.
Key responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, specifications and production requirements.
- Create, modify and maintain CNC programs.
- Input product design specifications into CNC software systems.
- Determine appropriate machining methods and manufacturing processes.
- Select tooling,
machine parameters and cutting paths.
- Set up and operate CNC machinery safely and efficiently.
- Load materials and prepare machinery for production.
- Monitor machining processes to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Conduct first-off inspections and ongoing production checks.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and CNC 2IC Production Supervisor to plan and schedule production activities.
About you
- Minimum 3 years' experience in CNC programming.
- Demonstrated experience setting up and operating CNC machinery.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, sheet metal or fabrication environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, CAD/CAM software and CNC programming systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling and machine optimisation.
- Experience conducting quality inspections and using precision measuring equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and meet production deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and organisational skills.
- Trade qualification in Engineering, Fabrication, Metal Trades or related discipline (desirable).
