Commercial Cleaning Supervisor | Company Vehicle + Fuel Card

About the role

This is a hands-on supervisory role for someone who enjoys being out in the field, supporting people, solving problems and taking genuine ownership of their area. You’ll manage the day-to-day operations of an established portfolio of commercial cleaning sites across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

You’ll have support from our broader management and supervisory team, but we’re looking for someone who can plan ahead, communicate clearly and keep their portfolio under control.

This role has become available because the person currently performing it has progressed into a broader leadership position within Matthews Cleaning Co.

Key responsibilities

- Manage the day-to-day operations of an allocated portfolio of commercial cleaning sites, ensuring staffing, quality and client requirements remain under control.
- Support, coach and communicate with cleaning staff, conduct regular quality inspections and address staff or service issues early.
- Stay ahead of staffing requirements by identifying vacancies early, recruiting suitable cleaners and coordinating interviews, trials, onboarding and new-starter follow-up.
- Coordinate training based on each employee’s experience and demonstrated competency, while ensuring Matthews standards and site requirements are consistently met.
- Work closely with the Roster Coordinator and leadership team on staffing pressures, operational issues and areas requiring additional support or escalation.

About you





We’re looking for someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable taking responsibility for multiple sites and priorities. You’ll be confident leading people, having clear conversations with staff and communicating professionally with commercial clients.

You should be proactive and comfortable identifying issues early rather than waiting until they become urgent.

Experience in commercial cleaning, facilities management, team leadership or another service-based operational environment would be highly regarded.

You’ll also need to be comfortable using everyday business systems such as email, mobile apps and Google Calendar.

A current driver’s licence is required.
