Looking for your first role in communications?
We're looking for a communications assistant to join our team at IPAA ACT.
About this opportunity The communications assistant supports IPAA ACT’s communications and engagement activities. Under the guidance of the head of strategic communications and the communications and engagement manager, this role ensures that our communications channels run engaging content tailored to our audience.
A typical day for you might include uploading or updating information on our website and then writing content for our weekly newsletter, including copy and graphics. Then, you might prepare social media posts for the week, using your creativity to create different formats and angles that resonate with our public sector audience. Later, you might be asked to compile routine campaign and channel performance reporting, identifying initial trends and insights to support evaluation and future planning in line with our strategic goals.
We offer a flexible, diverse and dog-friendly working environment in a fun and friendly team. On completion of your probation period some WFH opportunities will be considered.

We are looking for you to bring the following skills and attributes to the role:
- Tertiary qualifications or currently pursuing tertiary qualifications in communications or marketing or one year of professional experience in communications or marketing
- Experience in technical communications programs including the Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, content management systems (eg. Wordpress), and marketing software (eg. Experience in Hubspot is highly regarded)
- Highly developed writing and verbal communication skills with accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, solve problems and take initiative
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
- Willingness to learn new skills and work with new systems
- Previous experience in working within or closely with the Australian public sector will be highly regarded, but isn’t a requirement.
