At the Town of Mosman Park, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We welcome applicants who are committed to our values of Accountability, Connection and Excellence, and who are motivated to make a positive contribution to the community we serve.
About the Role
This role plays a critical part in maintaining the Town's parks, streetscapes, public spaces and infrastructure, ensuring residents enjoy safe, functioning and well-presented community assets every day.
We're looking for a Coordinator – Field Operations to lead our Depot-based Infrastructure and Parks and Gardens crews, ensuring the safe, efficient and well-prioritised delivery of regular maintenance, construction and customer request works.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, you'll lead the scheduling and planning of field works using a digital task management system, directly manage key maintenance contracts including irrigation, turf and parks maintenance, and ensure the team meets the Town's Work Health and Safety requirements.
This is the ideal next step for someone who has done the work on the tools and is ready to lead it. If you know what it takes to run a good day on-site and want to bring that experience into a leadership role, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities In this role you will:
- Own the day-to-day scheduling and planning of Field Operations works, allocating jobs, setting priorities and tracking progress through to close-out.
- Coordinate daily toolbox meetings and oversee delivery priorities across your team, ensuring safety-critical and time-sensitive work is actioned first.
- Directly manage the Town's irrigation, turf and parks maintenance contracts, monitoring contractor performance, KPIs, invoicing and non-conformance.
- Provide direct leadership and supervision to your team, supporting their performance, development and wellbeing.
- Lead the team's compliance with the Town's Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS), including audits, risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation, security and maintenance of the Depot, and coordinate the Town's field plant and equipment.
- Assist with the preparation and monitoring of Field Operations' operational and capital budgets, purchase orders and contractor invoicing.
- Provide input to council reports, briefing notes and correspondence relevant to Field Operations, as required by the Director of Operations.
About you You've done the work and now you're ready to lead it. You know what a good day at the Depot looks like, and you're ready to bring that experience into a role where you're organising the team, keeping standards high and getting the job done safely.
You'll bring
- The ability to lead through others – motivating and guiding a team to get the best out of them.
- Skill in balancing competing priorities, adjusting plans quickly when reactive work, weather or emergencies change the day.
- A genuinely customer-focused approach to service delivery, keeping resident and visitors experience of the Town's public spaces front of mind.
- A continuous improvement mindset – always looking for a better way to plan, deliver or track the work.
- Solid experience working in an outdoor, field operations or depot environment, ideally with some experience leading, mentoring or coordinating others in office.
- A safety-first mindset and the confidence to lead WHS standards for your team.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or coordination role within an outdoor, field operations or local government environment.
- A current C Class Driver's Licence.
Desirable
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
- Qualification or trade experience in horticulture, arboriculture, civil construction or infrastructure maintenance.
- Experience managing maintenance or service contracts, ideally within parks, environment or civil infrastructure maintenance.
- Local Government experience.
