GCP Data Engineer

Location: Sydney

We are looking for an experienced GCP Data Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud data solutions. This role will work across data engineering, cloud data platforms, data modelling and analytics enablement.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Python and SQL.
- Build batch and real-time data processing workflows using GCP.
- Develop and manage solutions across BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow and Pub/Sub.
- Orchestrate and automate pipelines using Apache Airflow / Cloud Composer.
- Design logical and physical data models and perform data transformation, cleansing and aggregation.
- Support data quality, governance, security and compliance requirements.
- Enable analytics and reporting through Looker Studio / LookML.
- Monitor and optimise pipeline performance, reliability and cloud costs.
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts and business stakeholders to deliver data solutions.
- Apply DataOps,



CI/CD and engineering best practices to continuously improve the data platform.

Key Skills & Experience

- 5 years' experience in Data Engineering or a similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL.
- Proven experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong knowledge of BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub and Cloud Storage.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow / Cloud Composer.
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT, data modelling and data warehousing.
- Experience enabling analytics through Looker Studio / LookML.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

- Experience with PySpark / Spark / Kafka and real-time streaming.
- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD.
- Experience with AI/ML data pipelines or advanced analytics.
- Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
