The Role This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Director to join our high performing news team in Brisbane. Operating across a range of news production techniques, you will be responsible for delivering high quality live programs and video content for ABC audiences across digital, television and outside broadcast environments, including the QLD 7pm News.
The Job
You Will
- Direct/switch programs using manual or automated studio facilities across continuous news and scheduled news programming.
- Consistently operate a range of equipment for News productions, including the vision mixing desk and automated studio systems.
- Prepare, plan, and direct programs to high standard.
- Brief and direct presenters and production staff to meet the creative vision and ensure the smooth running of the program.
- Direct/switch programs using manual or automated studio facilities across continuous news and scheduled news programming.
- Manage the Stratus storage drive with due care and attention regarding deletion of projects and media files, able to carry out targeted searches of old media and held media.
- Actively monitor the standard of graphic content on News programs to ensure accuracy and minimize the potential for legal risk.

About You If you have a demonstrated enthusiasm for working in a news and current affairs setting with a flexible approach, then we will love to hear from you. While we are looking for advanced skills as a director, additional craft operating skills such as video editing, camera operation, sound editing and location sound would be an advantage.
You'll Also Have
- Experience in operational duties with filed based syndication,
managing media files and keeping abreast of technological updates.
- Enthusiasm to lead, organise and direct talent and crew to perform their designated tasks to meet program requirements.
- An advanced knowledge of relevant newsroom software (such as ENPS, Mosart, Edius, Stratus, etc.) and associated production processes and systems, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and prioritising projects and tasks, delivering with a high attention to detail while working under pressure for live-to-air programs and deadlines.
