About the role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide support for people with a disability to live independently and maintain their best possible social and physical wellbeing. You will support our participants to achieve their personal goals and to live satisfying lives in our community. You will work with our high need’s participants including at our SIL location at Wooloowin, Stafford, Everton Park, Narangba and Kallangur on the north side of Brisbane as well as other participants in the Brisbane North and Moreton Bay regions.

You are a passionate and dedicated individual who is looking to make a difference in the community. You have experience supporting participants with high needs disability and behaviours of concernAs a people person, you pride yourself on providing exceptional support whilst ensuring participants achieve their goals and aspirations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting our participants to achieve their goals
- Facilitating individual & group activities
- Providing high needs personal care including bowel and catheter management, which may involve hoisting
- PEG feeding
- Following a Positive Behaviour Support Plan
- Assisting participants to take medication if required
- Participate in and support hydrotherapy and other programs
- Assisting participants to complete daily tasks such as cleaning and cooking
- Assistance with feeding and mealtime management including PEG feeding
- Transporting participants to and from services and activities
- Establishing and maintaining links to community
- Promoting independent decision making
- Working within the principles of person-centred practice
- Weekend and sleepover shifts will also be required
You will also be able to clearly articulate and demonstrate:
- Experience in providing high level support and personal care to participants in a SIL environment.
- Experience with PEG feeding
- Experience in providing support to participants with behaviours of concern and following a Positive Behaviour Support Plan.
- Genuine desire to provide the best quality care for people with a disability.
- Ability to work in a team and individually.
- Ability to build rapport with a diverse range of participants and their families.
- Driven, energetic and committed.
- Robust communication skills
- Flexible and reliable
- Current open QLD driver's licence (essential)
- Working with Children Blue Card or application to obtain (essential)
- NDIS Worker Screen Yellow Card or application to obtain (essential)
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate (essential)
- Cert III in Individual Support or willing to obtain (desired)
