FIG doctors help build a new model of healthcare that combines convenient digital access with high-quality, evidence-based medicine. FIG doctors assess patients, develop individualised treatment plans, prescribe where clinically appropriate, review investigations and provide ongoing medical oversight across weight management, longevity and priority care.

About FIG

FIG is a digital-first healthcare platform designed around three areas where consumers increasingly expect convenient, accessible and personalised care: medically supervised weight management, longevity and preventative health, and appropriate priority-care presentations managed through telehealth with clear pathways for investigation, referral and escalation.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical assessment and management

- Conduct high-quality video and/or telephone consultations and obtain relevant medical, medication, allergy, family and social histories.
- Assess symptoms, clinical risk, red flags, contraindications and suitability for telehealth management.
- Formulate appropriate differential diagnoses and individualised management plans.
- Prescribe medicines where clinically indicated, evidence-based and within scope of practice.
- Arrange appropriate pathology, imaging, pharmacy, specialist or allied health referrals and review results.
- Identify presentations requiring priority face-to-face assessment or emergency escalation and provide transparent safety-netting advice.
- Maintain continuity through appropriate follow-up and communication with usual healthcare providers where appropriate.

Weight management

- Assess eligibility for FIG medical weight-management programs, including weight history, BMI, comorbidities, previous treatment, medications and contraindications.
- Develop evidence-based plans incorporating nutrition, physical activity,

behavioural strategies and pharmacotherapy where appropriate.
- Initiate and manage weight-management medicines, including GLP-1/GIP therapies when clinically appropriate.
- Monitor effectiveness, adverse effects and adherence; adjust, pause or discontinue treatment according to clinical response and FIG protocols.
- Longevity and preventative health
- Undertake comprehensive preventative-health and risk assessments and identify modifiable cardiovascular, metabolic and lifestyle risk factors.
- Request and interpret clinically indicated investigations and create personalised management plans.
- Ensure investigations and interventions have a clear clinical indication and explain risk, uncertainty and limitations of testing in balanced language.

Priority care

- Assess appropriate acute and episodic presentations through telehealth and provide evidence-based advice, treatment and prescriptions where appropriate.
- Determine whether patients can be safely managed virtually or require GP, priority care, emergency department or other face-to-face assessment.
- Follow clear safety-netting instructions and escalation pathways.
- Clinical governance and digital care
- Practise in accordance with AHPRA, Medical Board of Australia, TGA and other applicable professional and regulatory requirements.
- Work within FIG clinical protocols, approved scope of practice and prescribing frameworks and maintain high-quality clinical documentation.

- Participate in incident review, adverse-event reporting, clinical audit, education, peer review and quality improvement where required.
- Use FIG digital systems, electronic prescribing and referral workflows effectively and collaborate closely with nurses and external clinical partners.
- Contribute clinician feedback to improve FIG clinical pathways, digital workflows and patient experience.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

- Medical degree recognised in Australia and current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner.
- Appropriate skilled indemnity insurance and strong clinical assessment, decision-making and red flag recognition skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, high-quality documentation and confidence using electronic clinical systems.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a multidisciplinary team and evidence-based clinical governance environment.

Highly desirable
- FRACGP or FACRRM
- Current active clinical practice in a physical setting such as general practice or priority-care services.
- Experience in telehealth, digital health, primary care, urgent care, obesity medicine, metabolic health or preventative medicine.
- Experience prescribing and monitoring GLP-1/GIP therapies and interpreting common pathology used in preventative and metabolic care.

What Success Looks Like

Patients receive safe, timely and highly personalised care; clinical decisions are evidence-based and well documented; red flags are identified early; investigations and prescribing are appropriate; and patients understand their treatment plan. FIG doctors combine sound clinical judgement, empathy, pragmatism and comfort with technology while helping shape a modern Australian healthcare service.
