We are currently seeking applications for Dredge Deckhands / Dredge Crew to join our operations at the Murray Mouth Dredge Site in South Australia. This is an excellent chance for experienced marine and civil construction personnel, as well as motivated individuals looking to establish a long-term career in the dredging industry.
Working as part of a dedicated dredging crew, you will assist with the safe and efficient operation of dredging while supporting daily marine, operational and maintenance activities.
About the Role
As a Dredge Deckhand, you will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the dredge and supporting equipment. You will work closely with operators and supervisors to ensure safe, productive and environmentally compliant dredging operations.
This role offers hands-on experience within a specialised marine environment and provides opportunities for training and career progression within the dredging industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with dredge operations and monitoring equipment
- Inspecting, maintaining and relocating dredge pipelines
- Assisting with anchor movements and marine operations
- Conducting vessel and plant pre-start inspections
- Supporting general maintenance, repairs and housekeeping activities
- Monitoring operational and environmental conditions
- Performing deck duties and handling ropes, lines and equipment
- Assisting with water quality monitoring and reporting
- Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and operational requirements
- Working collaboratively with operators, supervisors and other crew members
Essential Criteria
- AMSA Marine Qualification (Coxswain Grade 1 NC or higher preferred)
- Based in Goolwa or nearby
- Current Driver's Licence
- Construction White Card
- Reliable transport
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to work safely in a marine and construction environment
- Ability to work day or night shifts, including weekends when required
- Robust communication and teamwork skills
Highly Regarded
- Previous dredging, marine or civil construction experience
- Experience working on vessels or within marine operations
- Mechanical aptitude or mechanical trade background
- MED qualifications
- High Risk Work Licences (Dogging, Rigging, Forklift, etc.)
- Excavator, Loader or Dozer tickets
- HR or HC Truck Licence
- Experience working around pumps, pipelines and heavy equipment
