Are you an experienced Drainer (Pipelayer) looking to join a reputable, agile, and creative construction team? Rob Carr Pty Ltd is expanding and we’re on the lookout for skilled professionals to help deliver critical water, wastewater, and civil infrastructure projects across Australia.

Rob Carr Pty Ltd possesses specialist capabilities in conventional and trenchless pipeline construction, micro-tunnelling, deep shaft and service installations. Operating nationally as head contractor our client list includes local councils and State utilities and water authorities. As a specialist subcontractor on major civil infrastructure projects Rob Carr has delivered successful projects for a variety of tier one and two construction companies and alliances.

As a Drainer (Pipelayer), you’ll play a key role in installing stormwater, sewer, drainage, and water main systems. You’ll work across varied ground conditions, read and interpret technical plans, operate machinery, and ensure all work meets industry and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Install stormwater, sewer, drainage systems, and water mains
- Read and interpret plans, blueprints, specifications, and Australian Standards
- Set out work using levels, lasers, and surveying equipment
- Connect, cut, align, and position pipes using appropriate tools and techniques




- Install and work with shoring systems
- Grade and level trench bases using hand tools or machinery
- Operate equipment such as loaders, backhoes, rollers, and dump trucks
- Maintain compliance with company policies and safety standards
- Work effectively in varying conditions, including wet ground or dewatering environments

What You’ll Bring

- Minimum 3 years’ onsite experience as a Pipelayer/Drainer
- Experience laying PVC, GRP, MSCL, and PE pipes
- Experience installing/removing shoring boxes
- Experience working in microtunnelling or HDD crew (desirable)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work unsupervised
- Problem-solving ability and a team-focused attitude
- Understanding of production, sequencing, and project timelines
- Commitment to working safely and productively

Qualifications & Competencies

- Construction General Safety Induction (White Card)
- Certificate II or III in Pipelaying, or Plumbing Registration/Licence
- Civil construction and/or tunnelling operations experience
