About this Opportunity UQ Sport has an exciting opportunity for three newly created Part-Time Duty Manager positions (20 hours per week) at the Gatton Fitness and Aquatic Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of day-to-day venue operations, provide visible and hands-on leadership, and contribute to the delivery of a safe, welcoming, and high-quality experience for members and guests.

You'll build valuable experience across aquatic facility and pool plant operations, support operational projects and programs when needed, and further develop your leadership capability. Key responsibilities will include:

- Coordinate day-to-day aquatic and fitness facility operations, ensuring the venue is operationally ready and presented to a high standard.
- Provide leadership, guidance and practical support to Customer Service Officers and Lifeguards, including coordinating lifeguard coverage and scheduled breaks.
- Monitor water quality, pool plant, equipment and facility conditions, taking corrective action or escalating issues when required.
- Champion exceptional customer service, build positive relationships with members and community users, and act as an escalation point for complaints.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments, respond calmly to incidents and emergencies, and complete required reporting and follow-up actions.
- Support staff training and development, effective communication between teams and management, and the delivery of programs and operational projects.

About You You will bring a calm,



proactive and customer-focused approach, with the confidence to lead a small team and make sound decisions in a busy operational environment. You will also have:

- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- A current Pool Lifeguard certificate and relevant lifeguarding experience.
- A current valid Blue Card.
- Pool Operations Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience in an aquatic, fitness, recreation or sporting environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- A commitment to workplace health and safety and delivering a safe, inclusive experience for patrons and staff.
- Flexibility to work a rotating on-site roster across Monday to Sunday, with shifts scheduled between approximately 4:30am and 8:15pm.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience, knowledge of aquatic facility operations and pool plant systems, and additional aquatic qualifications will be highly regarded.
