YOUR ROLE The Education Officer, Student Health and Wellbeing is based within the SH&W; Team and provides a key first point of contact for Catholic schools across Melbourne seeking advice and support. The role involves receiving and responding to enquiries about child protection mandatory reporting protocols, student attendance, student mental health and wellbeing, policy protocols and curriculum-related matters.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Lead and support the Student Wellbeing Information and Support Service (SWISS), including responding to school enquiries, maintaining accurate data, and developing processes and resources that support consistent child safety and wellbeing practice.
- Support schools to implement, review and strengthen policies,



practices and initiatives that promote child safety, student health and wellbeing, engagement and learning outcomes in alignment with the MACS2030 Strategic Plan.
- Develop data-informed resources and guidance aligned to legislation, Ministerial Orders, MACS policy and relevant statutory requirements to support schools in meeting child safety, wellbeing and compliance obligations.
- Provide guidance to schools on identifying, responding to and escalating matters that may impact the safety, wellbeing and learning of children and young people.
- Maintain current knowledge of research, statutory requirements, legislative compliance, Church teachings and sector expectations that impact child safety, student wellbeing and learning outcomes.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with other directorates in MACS, government departments, specialist services and other agencies to support safe, timely and coordinated responses for children, and young people.

ABOUT YOU

- Demonstrated experience in an intake, school support or service coordination role, with the ability to be the key first point of contact for schools seeking advice across child safety, wellbeing, attendance, engagement, behaviour and related compliance matters.
- Sound knowledge of child safety obligations, Victorian Child Safe Standards (Ministerial Order 1359), PROTECT protocols, MACS policies and relevant statutory requirements, with the capacity to apply these consistently at a system level.
- Demonstrated ability to triage calls and emails, identify immediate risks or compliance concerns, clarify what has occurred, and determine when matters require escalation to specialist teams within MACS or external authorities.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to provide calm, clear and practical advice to principals,



school leaders and staff while maintaining professional boundaries and providing advice within the scope of the role.
- Strong capability in accurate case noting, information management and record keeping, including the ability to document calls, actions, referrals, follow-up requirements and emerging trends in a way that supports accountability, compliance monitoring and service improvement.
- Strong professional judgement and discretion when handling sensitive information, including the ability to recognise confidentiality, privacy, child safety and reputational considerations and to seek timely guidance where matters are complex, high risk or outside delegated responsibility.

Salary range for this position is $118,234 (EO 1) - $138,496 (EO 5) per annum exclusive of superannuation as specified in the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022.
