About the Opportunity:

An exciting prospect exists for an experienced Electrical Capability Coordinator (ITS & Electrical) to join QLD Government based on the Gold Coast. This role is responsible for coordinating technical capability, training, and competency activities across electrical, Intelligent Transport Systems and Electrical (ITS&E;), and civil electrical disciplines.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and maintaining the technical capabilities of electrical personnel by supporting training delivery, competency management, workforce development, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for an experienced Electrical Mechanic with a passion for mentoring, training, and developing technical capability within a safety-focused operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Capability & Training

- Coordinate technical training and competency programs that support the safe delivery of electrical, ITS&E;, and civil electrical works across operations.
- Develop, maintain and monitor training plans, competency matrices, assessment records and learning resources.
- Ensure capability requirements remain current and aligned with procedures, industry standards and technical requirements.
- Support the ongoing delivery and continuous improvement of civil electrical training programs.
- Assist in the development, review and maintenance of training content and technical learning materials.

Coaching & Workforce Development

- Provide technical coaching, mentoring and competency support to apprentices, trainees and electrical workers.
- Support project managers, supervisors and operational staff in identifying capability requirements and development pathways.




- Facilitate knowledge transfer initiatives to ensure specialist technical expertise is retained across the business.
- Assist with succession planning and capability development for critical electrical and ITS&E; disciplines.

Compliance & Safety

- Promote a strong safety culture through the delivery of compliant and effective training and competency programs.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of electrical safety requirements and quality standards.
- Contribute to workplace investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement activities where required.
- Support competency assurance activities and maintain evidence records to meet business and regulatory requirements.

Continuous Improvement

- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Electrical Training Centre and associated capability frameworks.
- Assist with training scheduling, reporting and workforce capability planning.
- Participate in reviews of competency pathways, technical standards and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve training effectiveness and operational capability outcomes.

Mandatory Requirements: To be considered for this position, applicants must possess:

- Electrical Mechanic trade qualification.
- Current and valid Queensland Electrical Work Licence.
- Current C Class Driver's Licence.
- Ability to work full-time from the Gold Coast (Nerang) location.
- Demonstrated experience working within electrical construction, maintenance,



infrastructure or operational environments.

Desirable Skills & Experience: The following qualifications and experience will be highly regarded:

- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent).
- Experience delivering electrical safety or technical training programs.
- Experience working within civil electrical, ITS, infrastructure or transport-related environments.
- Qualifications or practical experience in:
- Workplace Health and Safety
- Incident Investigation
- Risk Management
- Compliance Auditing

- Experience conducting electrical safety audits and quality assurance reviews.
- Experience supporting formal workplace investigations and corrective action processes.
- Knowledge of capability management frameworks and competency-based training systems.
