The Position The Employment practitioner manages a diverse portfolio of contentious and non-contentious workplace matters. The role requires supporting corporate clients, interpreting modern awards and enterprise agreements, and delivering commercial, practical advice in a supportive team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide practical and commercially focused advice on employment and workplace relations matters.
- Draft, review and negotiate employment contracts, policies, procedures, and workplace documentation.
- Advise clients on employment legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and regulatory obligations.
- Assist with workplace investigations, disciplinary matters, performance management processes, and termination of employment issues.
- Support clients in managing discrimination, harassment, bullying, and workplace health and safety matters.
- Prepare correspondence, legal memoranda, court documents, and submissions.
- Assist with litigation and dispute resolution matters before courts, tribunals, and regulatory bodies.
- Conduct legal research and remain current on legislative and case law developments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.




- Running independent files while working collaboratively with senior team members on complex litigation or advisory projects.
- Participate in business development activities and contribute to team growth initiatives.
- Adhoc tasks and duties as and when required.

Commercial Transactions

- Conduct employment law due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, business sales, and corporate restructures.
- Advise on employee transfer arrangements, consultation obligations, and workforce integration issues arising from transactions.
- Review and draft transaction documents including:
- Business sale agreements
- Share sale agreements
- Service agreements
- Confidentiality agreements
- Commercial contracts
- Assist with contract negotiations and provide strategic commercial advice.
- Identify and manage employment-related risks in commercial transactions.
- Support corporate clients on governance, compliance, and broader commercial legal matters.
- Adhoc tasks and duties as and when required.

Qualifications / Requirements

Essential

- Admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia.
- 1-3 years PQE with experience in employment, workplace relations, industrial relations, or litigation.
- Strong understanding of employment legislation and workplace regulations.
- Excellent drafting, research, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and competing priorities.
- Commercially minded with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment to client service and professional excellence.

Advantageous:
- Experience appearing before or assisting with matters in the Fair Work Commission or relevant courts and tribunals.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations.
- Exposure to workplace health and safety matters.
- Business development or client relationship management experience.
