About the role

LCI is seeking an experienced and motivated ESD Engineer (or Consultant with architectural qualifications) for our Sydney office. We are an engineering design house specialising in building services. You will assess the sustainability of proposed multi-unit residential developments and provide ESD input to design specifications and technical drawings.

Key responsibilities

- Assess the sustainability of proposed multi-unit residential developments using NatHERS accredited software such as HERO, Firstrate, BERS etc.
- Provide ESD input to design specifications and technical drawings, research suitable solutions and estimate costs and time.
- Attendance at Design Meetings, Site Inspections, and Final Inspections as required.
- Prepare documentation, write reports and give presentations to client/management.
- Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
- Encourage, implement and monitor the applications of LCI QA systems to ISO9001 standards.




- Understand and navigate the planning approval pathway in NSW for large scale residential projects.
- Plan and manage projects from end-to-end or work in design and construction phases.
- Participate in the health and safety policies and quality assurance practices.
- Site inspections and survey for the purposes of BASIX NCC Section J compliance, including final inspection.

About you

- Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Architecture or similar
- Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability, or equivalent for NatHERS Accreditation.
- 4-5 years post graduate experience as an ESD Engineer or Consultant (architect)
- Experience across engineering modelling software, including NatHERS (HERO preferred but also Accurate, Firstrate, BERS), IES, Radiance, Grasshopper/Rhino, LCA software (e.g. eTool, GABI), and basic CAD experience e.g. AutoCAD, Autodesk, Navisworks
- NatHERS Accreditation for certifying NCC Class 2 and 4 developments
- Membership and Accreditation with industry bodies. e.g. GBCA, NABERS, WELL, LEED
