Avanti Pizzeria is a family-owned dine-in and takeaway Italian restaurant located in Cromer on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Established in 2001, we offer an extensive menu including traditional and gourmet pizzas, pasta, seafood, chicken, veal, salads and other Italian dishes.

We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our busy kitchen team on a full-time basis.

About the role

Working as part of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of dishes consistently and to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include

- preparing, seasoning and cooking food in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements
- preparing ingredients and checking foodstuffs for quality and freshness
- operating and regulating ovens, grills and other commercial cooking equipment
- preparing a range of pizzas, pasta dishes, meat, chicken, seafood and other menu items
- portioning, plating and presenting dishes consistently
- storing food appropriately, including in temperature-controlled facilities
- maintaining food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards throughout the kitchen
- preparing meals to accommodate dietary requirements where required
- assisting with estimating food requirements, stock preparation and minimising waste




- assisting with the training and guidance of junior kitchen staff where required.

Skills and experience To be considered for this role, you will have:

- a relevant cookery qualification, such as an AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent, and/or relevant industry experience consistent with the requirements of the role
- demonstrated experience working as a Cook in a busy restaurant kitchen
- sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and commercial kitchen equipment
- the ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent quality and presentation
- a positive understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements
- the ability to work effectively as part of a kitchen team in a fast-paced environment
- availability to work a roster across 5 to 6 days, including evenings and weekends.

Experience in Italian cuisine, including pizza and pasta preparation, will be highly regarded. This is a full-time position offering 38 hours per week.
