About the Role
As a Machine Operator & Leading Hand, you will be responsible for operating earthmoving machinery while supervising day-to-day site activities, coordinating crews, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, and other earthmoving equipment safely and efficiently.
- Lead and supervise site crews, subcontractors, and daily operations.
- Read and interpret site plans and specifications.
- Set out works and ensure projects meet required levels and tolerances.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with WHS requirements.
- Conduct pre-start inspections and basic maintenance of machinery.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, and suppliers as required.
- Identify and solve on-site issues while maintaining productivity and quality.
About You
The successful applicant will have:
- Proven experience in earthworks and civil construction.
- Demonstrated experience operating a range of earthmoving machinery.
- Previous experience as a Leading Hand or in a supervisory role.
- Solid understanding of site safety and construction practices.
- Ability to read plans and work independently.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- A solid work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- A current driver's licence (HR licence desirable).
- Relevant machinery tickets and construction industry certifications (White Card essential).
