This is a hands-on role involving both workshop fabrication and site work, with a strong focus on stainless-steel fabrication for the food and beverage industry.
Key responsibilities
- Cutting and preparing materials to specified measurements
- Fabricating components from engineering and shop drawings
- Using brake presses, folders, rollers and guillotines
- TIG welding stainless-steel components
- MIG welding steel and stainless steel where required
- Fabricating stainless steel from 0.9 mm to 6 mm
- Sanding and polishing stainless steel to a seamless, food-grade finish
- Reading and working from engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and simple sketches
- Completing workshop fabrication and occasional site installation work
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship, quality and housekeeping
About you
- Proven TIG welding experience – essential
- Trade qualification as a Sheet Metal Fabricator, Boilermaker, Welder/Fabricator or similar
- Ideally 2+ years' relevant experience
- Experience welding stainless steel from 0.9 mm to 6 mm
- Ability to read engineering and fabrication drawings
- Experience using a folder, brake press and guillotine
- Experience with cold saws and general hand tools
- Ability to sand and polish stainless steel to a high-quality, food-grade finish
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of an experienced team
