About the job
As a Field Operations Technical Officer, you’ll provide specialist technical support across SA Water’s water and wastewater infrastructure. This hands-on technical role will see you undertake site investigations, develop scopes, estimates and designs, provide technical advice and conduct audits to ensure work meets required standards. You’ll work closely with Operations and Maintenance teams and stakeholders to support the safe, practical and effective delivery of projects.
About the Person
You’ll bring demonstrated experience working within water and wastewater infrastructure, with solid technical knowledge across network operations, design, investigation and relevant industry standards. You’ll be confident assessing and solving technical problems, reviewing designs and providing practical technical advice. With no people management responsibilities, this role will suit someone who enjoys being a technical specialist and working collaboratively with operational teams and stakeholders.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:
Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.
You will:
- Provide technical advice and support across water and wastewater infrastructure, including investigations, estimates, designs and delivery methodologies.
- Conduct site investigations and audits to ensure designs, construction methods and project outcomes meet SA Water standards and requirements.
- Develop and review project scopes, estimates, technical documentation and multi-disciplinary designs.
- Support Safety in Design (SiD) requirements and identify and manage technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with Ops and Maintenance, delivery teams, contractors and stakeholders to achieve safe,
practical and cost-effective project outcomes.
- Support continuous improvement of technical standards, processes and systems, including the adoption of new and emerging technologies.
Your success in this role will come from:
- Demonstrated experience working across water and wastewater infrastructure or network operations.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in water/wastewater network operations, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- Experience in technical investigations, estimating, options assessment and the design of water industry infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of technical and infrastructure standards, including experience reviewing and auditing designs.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and resolve technical issues.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality outcomes within required timeframes.
