*The Queensland Parliamentary Service supports the Legislative Assembly, its committees, and 93 Members of Parliament who represent communities across the State. Our team operates from the parliamentary precinct in Brisbane and supports 97 electorate offices across the State spanning from Barron River to Currumbin and Mount Isa.

The vision of the Queensland Parliamentary Service is to be the innovative leader in the delivery of parliamentary services in the Westminster world.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for the Parliamentary Service 2027 Cadetship program.

Please note: This program is delivered with the support of AFL SportsReady. Applicants will be referred to AFL SportsReady to register their interest

Preferred degree/discipline

The Parliamentary Service include a range of diverse departments and can accommodate many degree types. We are interested in hearing from cadets from a wide range of academic backgrounds. For example:

Law

Arts / Humanities

Business / Commerce

Information Technology

Arts

Education

Key Responsibilities

Assisting with correspondence and document preparation in relation to the cadets discipline area

Undertaking research, analysis and supporting record keeping

Building effective relationships across all areas of the team and Parliamentary Service

Identifying and driving continuous improvement in relation to the cadets discipline area

Participating in training and development opportunities to build professional capability

Other Requirements





Successful applicants will be required to attend a welcome breakfast in mid-October. The program wll officially commence in February 2027.

Cadets are eligible to receive per semester; a Study Allowance of up to $6,815 and a Book Allowance of $524.

Positions are open to students all around Australia. To be considered for a Indigenous Cadetship you must meet the following criteria:

Be of Aboriginal Australian and/or Torres Strait Islander descent

Identify as an Aboriginal Australian and/or Torres Strait Islander

Be accepted as an Aboriginal Australian and/or Torres Strait Islander in the community in which they live or have lived

Be enroled for full-time study (defined as at least 75% of the full-time study load) at a university located in Australia

Be enroled in their first undergraduate degree course

Be studying full time (unless in your final year of study)

Be an Australian resident
