Your new company An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Food Services Operations Manager to join a large and highly regarded healthcare organisation in Melbourne.

This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of a high-volume commercial kitchen and food services team, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality meal services to a diverse customer base.

Your new role

Reporting to the food services manager, you will provide both strategic and hands-on leadership across food production and food service operations. This is a rapid-paced and complex environment where quality, compliance and workforce management are paramount.

Key responsibilities include

- Leading and developing a large food services team across a 24/7 operation
- Managing kitchen production, menu implementation and service delivery
- Assisting with cooking and meal preparation
- Driving food safety compliance and quality assurance standards
- Overseeing workforce planning, recruitment, training and performance management
- Managing supplier relationships, procurement and inventory processes
- Monitoring labour, food costs and operational budgets
- Partnering with clinical and operational stakeholders to support dietary and nutritional requirements




- Supporting change management and continuous improvement initiatives across the service.

What you'll need to succeed

- Proven experience in a culinary leadership or head chef role
- Strong people leadership skills with experience managing large operational teams
- Comprehensive understanding of large-scale food production and kitchen operations
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets, resources and operational performance
- Knowledge of food safety, HACCP principles and regulatory compliance requirements
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Relevant trade qualifications in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality
- Experience within healthcare, aged care or similar environments will be highly desirable
