Australia

What do you say to the person who is clearly burning out, when the policy document has nothing practical to offer either of you?

Every leader carrying this has been in that conversation. No policy prepares you for it, and the regulator no longer waits for someone to be harmed before asking what you did in it.

The duty to manage psychosocial risk is not new. The standard of proof is. From 1 July 2026, the Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work Code of Practice became an enforceable benchmark in NSW, backed by 20 specialist psychosocial inspectors.

Queensland's code has been enforceable since 2023, and Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria have all introduced explicit psychosocial duties, with Victoria's commencing on 1 December 2025. The question has changed from "did anyone get hurt" to "show me your system."

A system is not a policy. It is what your leaders actually say when someone is struggling.

Who this is for

Senior leaders accountable for psychosocial risk in an Australian organisation. CHROs, CPOs, HR Directors, Heads of People and Culture, and Heads of Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

Psychosocial risk is where HR and safety collide. Safety holds the hierarchy of controls and no conversational capability. HR holds the conversations and no evidence trail. This cohort deliberately puts both in the room.

Eligibility

Open to leaders based in Australia, working in Australian organisations, under Australian workplace health and safety law.

Applications from outside Australia will not be reviewed.

What you walk away with

Thirty six Australian leaders, three months, one capability: the conversation a policy document cannot have for you.

- The ability to recognise a psychosocial hazard before it becomes a complaint, a claim or a resignation
- A coaching method built for the conversations psychosocial risk actually requires, usable in your team the week you finish
- Your pathway to the ICF Associate Certified Coach credential, through one of only two academies in the world accredited by ICF at Level 2 in positive psychology coaching

The research Fellows contribute original data on what leaders actually say when psychosocial risk surfaces in a conversation, an area the psychosocial safety climate literature has largely left unexamined. Contributors are named. This cohort is where the data comes from.

The commitment

Three months. Monthly roundtables, guided reflection and observed coaching sessions, flexible around your role. Fellows receive a partial scholarship in recognition of their time and contribution to the research, and cover the balance themselves. Full details of the fellowship and the ICF credentialing pathway are provided at application.

Thirty six places

Six roundtable groups of six, because this practice only works in a group small enough for every person to be observed. Applications close 30 September 2026.
