Danihers Facility Management is seeking a practical and motivated Grounds, Gardens and Maintenance Officer to join our team in Kyneton.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining high-quality grounds and facilities, and is comfortable turning their hand to everything from gardening and mowing to general repairs and maintenance.

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will help ensure the College’s buildings, grounds and assets remain safe, functional, well maintained and presented to a high standard.

About the role

No two days will be exactly the same. Working alongside the Facilities Manager, you will take a proactive approach to maintaining the College grounds, gardens, buildings and facilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Maintaining lawns, gardens, trees, hedges and landscaped areas, including mowing, pruning, weeding, mulching, fertilising and seasonal planting.
- Operating grounds maintenance equipment, including ride-on and front-deck mowers.
- Undertaking general repairs, handyman duties, painting, minor carpentry, patching and make-good works.
- Conducting regular site walk-arounds and identifying maintenance, presentation and safety issues.
- Supporting planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
- Maintaining pathways, fences, gates,



outdoor furniture and external areas.
- Assisting with event set-ups and pack-downs, including moving furniture and equipment.
- Supporting contractors and monitoring works being undertaken on site.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and inspection records.
- Supporting site security, safety, WHS and environmental requirements.

About you We are looking for someone who is hands-on, reliable and proactive, with a genuine pride in keeping grounds and facilities looking their best.

You will ideally bring:

- Previous experience in grounds, gardens, maintenance or a similar hands-on role.
- Practical gardening and horticultural knowledge.
- General maintenance and handyman skills.
- Confidence operating grounds and garden maintenance equipment.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to problems.
- Good organisation and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to safety, presentation and detail.
- The ability to work independently while also being a collaborative member of the facilities team.
- Clear and professional communication skills.
- A positive attitude and strong customer-service focus.

Experience working within a school environment would be highly regarded.

Requirements

You will require a current driver's licence, Working with Children Check and National Police Check. Relevant maintenance, horticultural, grounds or trade experience and/or qualifications will be well regarded. A Weed/Chemical Spraying Certificate is also listed as a requirement for the role.
