About the role

Northern Carriers is seeking an experienced HC Truck Driver to join our growing transport fleet on a full-time basis. Based in Somerton VIC 3062, this position is integral to our operations, delivering reliable freight transportation services across regional and metropolitan routes. As an HC Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy combination vehicles, maintaining strict adherence to road safety regulations, and ensuring timely delivery of goods to our clients.

This role is critical to maintaining Northern Carriers' reputation for professional and dependable transport services.

What you'll be doing

- Operating and safely driving Heavy Combination (HC) vehicles in accordance with all relevant road traffic legislation and company policies
- Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, identifying and reporting mechanical issues or maintenance requirements
- Planning and executing efficient delivery routes whilst adhering to scheduled timeframes and delivery windows
- Loading, securing and unloading freight according to weight distribution regulations and load specifications
- Maintaining accurate logbooks, delivery documentation and vehicle maintenance records
- Communicating effectively with dispatch, customers and other team members to ensure service expectations are met
- Adhering strictly to fatigue management regulations and driving hour limits as mandated by transport legislation
- Ensuring vehicles are kept clean and in good working order throughout shifts
- Responding professionally to customer enquiries and resolving any issues that arise during deliveries

What we're looking for

- Valid HC Class driver's licence with a clean driving record and current medical certificate
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience driving heavy combination vehicles in commercial transport
- Comprehensive knowledge of Australian road rules, fatigue management legislation (Chain of Responsibility) and Heavy Vehicle National Law




- Demonstrated ability to work safely and independently whilst managing time effectively
- Solid communication and customer service skills with a professional demeanour
- Physical fitness to safely perform loading, unloading and equipment operation tasks
- Reliability, punctuality and a commitment to workplace safety and compliance
- Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and training as required
- Experience with digital logbook systems and GPS navigation technology is advantageous
