We're seeking an experienced Head of Finance to join a growing private credit fund as a key member of the leadership team. This is your chance to build and shape a best-in-class finance function from the ground up as we scale. You'll report directly to the CFO and work closely with senior management and the Board, with direct influence on strategy and governance.
Reporting to the CFO, you'll lead a team of Accountants and Finance Managers while overseeing payroll and accounts payable. Your mission: ensure the financial reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory obligations are rock-solid—giving leadership and investors complete confidence in the numbers driving investment decisions.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Own month-end close, investor/board reporting, NAV calculations, and business planning cycles
- Manage external audit process and maintain audit-ready controls and documentation
- Ensure all regulatory reporting (APRA, ASIC) is accurate and timely
- Manage direct and indirect tax compliance and reporting across all fund entities
- Oversee R&D; tax incentive submissions and employee share scheme compliance
- Ensure tax positions are documented and lodged on time
- Build and embed SOX-style control frameworks (segregation of duties, audit trails, reconciliations)
- Ensure processes meet institutional investor due diligence standards
- Partner on automating transactional processes (AP, AR,
bank reconciliation, payroll)
- Oversee accurate calculation and processing of distributions and performance fees
- Support investor reporting and communications
- Manage team of four
- Oversee payroll and accounts payable functions
- Build team capability and support career development
- Drive process improvements and lead adoption of automation/AI tools across finance
- Champion best practice as the fund scales
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent)
- 10 years' experience in finance leadership roles, ideally within fund management, banking, lending, or alternative asset management
- Working knowledge of APRA and ASIC regulatory reporting requirements and fund management compliance
- Experience managing external audits and statutory reporting
- Solid understanding of direct and indirect tax compliance in Australia
- Experience leading teams, including offshore/outsourced resources
- Experience building or operating to institutional-grade control standards, ideally in an organisation managing investor capital or preparing for institutional review
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience reporting to executive management, boards, and/or investors
- Understanding of fund accounting or private credit/alternative assets (highly valued)
