Head of Multicultural Child and Family Program

Bankstown, Sydney | Senior Leadership Role

About Role

SSI is seeking an experienced and values-driven leader to lead our Multicultural Child and Family Program (MCFP), a nationally recognised service supporting children, young people and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across permanency support, family preservation and humanitarian programs, leading a team of senior leaders while shaping the future of culturally responsive child and family services in NSW, VIC and QLD.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Program Direction

- Lead the program direction, growth and sustainability of SSI's Multicultural Child and Family Program, ensuring services deliver meaningful outcomes for children, young people and families from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Identify opportunities for service innovation, diversification and expansion while maintaining a strong focus on quality, impact and client outcomes.

Operational Excellence & Service Quality

- Provide executive oversight of program operations, ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with contractual, legislative and accreditation requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement, service excellence and evidence-informed decision making across all program streams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, learning and performance that supports exceptional outcomes for children and families.

Leadership & Workforce Capability

- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing leadership team, building capability, engagement and succession across the program.
- Create an inclusive and psychologically safe culture that reflects SSI's values and commitment to child safety.

Stakeholder Engagement & Sector Influence

- Build and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, sector partners, peak bodies, community organisations and research institutions.

Financial Management & Governance

- Hold accountability for program budgets, financial performance, resource allocation and long-term sustainability.
- Ensure robust governance, risk management, compliance and reporting frameworks are embedded across the program.





Cultural Practice & Child Safe Leadership

- Champion culturally responsive practice and ensure programs are designed and delivered in ways that recognise and value the diversity of children, young people and families.
- Lead SSI's commitment to child-safe organisations by embedding solid safeguarding, quality and compliance practices across all services.

About You You are an accomplished senior leader with significant experience in child, family, community or human services. You bring strong stakeholder management, commercial and operational leadership capability, and have successfully led teams through growth, reform or organisational change.

Most importantly, you are a collaborative and authentic leader who can bring people on a journey, build trusted relationships and drive meaningful impact for children and families.

Essential Criteria

- Demonstrated senior executive or substantial leadership experience within child and family services, community services, human services or a related sector.
- Extensive knowledge of child and family service systems including out-of-home-care, safeguarding requirements and contemporary practice approaches.
- Exceptional relationship management skills with demonstrated success engaging government agencies, funding bodies, community organisations and sector stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience managing significant budgets, financial performance and organisational risk.
- Commitment to SSI's values of Respect, Accountability and Inclusion.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, influence and bring people through change.
