Head of US–Australia Partnerships | Leading APAC VC | Sydney or Melbourne – Hybrid
Ghost AI is partnering with one of Australia’s leading venture capital firms on a newly created Head of Network role.
Founded in Australia in 2012, the firm has grown into a $4.6B+ AUM investment platform backing exceptional founders across APAC — including Canva, Airwallex, and Rokt.
Now, as the firm expands into the US, they're looking for someone exceptional to build the network function from the ground up.
This isn't a traditional recruiting or BD role.
You'll own the strategy for how the firm builds, maps, and activates relationships across the Australian and US tech ecosystems — turning individual relationships into a compounding firm-wide advantage.
Why this is exciting
- Build the function from scratch — you'll own the network strategy as the firm expands into the US
- ???? Bridge Australia + the US (Bay Area) — quarterly US travel is a core part of the role
- Build relationships with founders, senior operators, and exceptional talent across both ecosystems
- Help portfolio companies solve critical hiring and growth challenges through high-value introductions
- $280K–$320K AUD base + 25–30% bonus + carry
- Work at a firm behind some of Australia's most successful tech companies
- Join an AI-native, ~38-person team where everyone is expected to use AI to create leverage
- Relocation support available
The Role
As Head of Network, you'll build the systems, relationships, and strategy that make the firm's network a compounding asset for the entire firm.
You'll:
- Get out into the market and build relationships with top founders, operators, and senior talent
- Become a trusted partner to portfolio founders,
understanding their needs and making the right introductions at the right time
- Consolidate individual investor CRMs into a single, scalable firm-wide network
- Partner with the investment team to identify exceptional operators who could become future founders
- Build the network strategy for the firm's US expansion, initially focusing on GTM talent before expanding further
- Use AI, LLMs, automation, and data to make the network more scalable and effective
Who they're looking for
You should have:
- 7+ years of experience in technology, ideally across a high-growth startup or major tech company
- Experience in BD, partnerships, talent, strategy & ops, investing, or a similar broad operator role
- Deep knowledge of either the Australian or US tech ecosystem, with credible familiarity with the other
- A genuine ability to build relationships with senior operators, founders, and investors
- A broad, generalist mindset — you're a connector, not a niche specialist
- Experience building systems to track, manage, and leverage skilled networks
- Genuine AI fluency — you actively use LLMs and workflow automation in your day-to-day work
- A Bachelor's degree from an Australian or US university
- Based in Sydney or Melbourne and comfortable travelling to the US quarterly
This probably isn't for you if...
- You're purely a recruiter focused on filling roles
- You prefer managing a team rather than being hands-on
- Your experience is primarily internal-facing with little connection to the tech ecosystem
- You don't already have a meaningful network across founders, operators, or senior talent
If you're the person people call when they need to know who the best operators are, where the next great founders are coming from, or who they should meet next — this could be a very special opportunity. ?
