About TNS

TNS Logistics is an established family-owned logistics business with a large heavy vehicle fleet and an in-house workshop based at the Port of Brisbane.

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to step into a hands-on Workshop Manager role and take ownership of the day-to-day running of our workshop.

This role is a genuine mix of hands-on mechanical work and workshop management. You will spend approximately half your time on the tools and the other half leading the workshop, coordinating maintenance, planning workloads and keeping the fleet safe, compliant and on the road

What You'll Be Doing

- Lead and work alongside our Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic
- Take full ownership of workshop operations; scheduling, workflow, and team performance
- Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs to keep the fleet compliant and on the road
- Develop and manage workshop budgets, tracking costs and identifying savings
- Establish and maintain tyre management processes, including tracking, rotation, and replacement schedules
- Use Gearbox (fleet/workshop management software) for job cards, maintenance records and reporting
- Ensure all work complies with NHVR regulations, manufacturer specifications, and internal HSE standards
- Conduct diagnostics on engines, transmissions, drivelines, steering and suspension systems
- Build and implement processes from the ground up — this is a greenfield opportunity to do things the right way

- Coordinate with operations to minimise fleet downtime

What You'll Bring

- Trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
- Strong experience as a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic
- Previous workshop leadership, supervisory or leading-hand experience
- Experience working on trucks, trailers and heavy vehicle fleets
- Solid diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Good understanding of preventative maintenance and heavy vehicle compliance
- Ability to organise workload, prioritise repairs and lead a small team
- Experience with Gearbox or similar fleet/workshop software is desirable
- HR or HC licence advantageous
- Forklift licence advantageous
- Comprehensive personal tool kit
- Reliable, practical and solutions-focused approach

What We Offer

- Competitive salary package or hourly rate — commensurate with experience
- Full-time Monday to Friday role
- Hands-on leadership position with genuine ownership of the workshop
- Modern workshop and equipment
- Supportive management team
- Training opportunities and career progression
- Stable, long-term employment with an established family-owned business

If you're an experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic who is ready to take the next step into workshop leadership while remaining hands-on, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now with your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience.
