About us:
Broadbeach Waters Kindergarten is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation that has been operating for over 55 years on the Gold Coast. Our centre is a single unit consisting of two groups of 22 children that attend Monday, Tuesday & alternate Wednesday or Thursday, Friday and alternate Wednesday (from 8.30am- until 2.45pm) during the QLD school terms.
We provide spontaneous and intentional teaching moments that reflect the National Curriculum and complement children’s interests and strengths. We are a Reggio Emilia -inspired kindergarten that believes children are capable and have a myriad of ways to express themselves creatively.
We pride ourselves on maintaining a safe, inspiring and nurturing environment that helps children build their confidence, emotional intelligence and identity. We are an inclusive Kindergarten that celebrates diversity and prioritises child safety. We have a dedicated atelier space with an Artist In Residence, a large natural outdoor yard, community walks program, veggie gardens and more!
This position would suit someone looking for shorter hour days across the week.
About your role:
-Your role will begin in January 2027, with some paid shifts occurring in Term 4, 2026 to become familiar with the staff and service operations. We have long-term staff that will support your journey as an educator.
- Must be available between the times of 9.00am-2.15pm on Thursday, Friday & alternate Wednesday's.
- Casual position (minimum 10 hrs per week - maximum 16.5 hours per week on Thursday, Friday & alternate Wednesday's)
- Pay rate: As per our EBA (approx. $38 - $44 per hour depending on qualifications)
What you will be doing:
- Assist with the daily rhythms and routines, whilst working as part of a collaborative team.
-Respond to the child's individual needs, support their emotional regulation, and encourage their engagement and participation in the learning program and environment.
- Work with the team to implement inclusive strategies and learning experiences that strengthen children's development and sense of belonging.
-Maintain accurate documentation and follow relevant policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. -Uphold the Child Secure Standards and children's rights through respectful interactions.
- Develop trusting and honest relationships with children, families, colleagues, management and community stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with the EYLF and NQS and be familiar with platforms such as StoryPark.
What we are looking for:
- Completion of the National Child Safety Training – Foundation & Advanced through Geckko and an understanding of both Paramount Consideration and Child Safety policies and procedures. - Minimum Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education. - Current First Aid/CPR/Asthma/Anaphylaxis certification. - A Police Check current within three months (or willingness to obtain one).
- Strong work ethic as well as good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for supporting each child reach their potential and a positive image of the child.
- Having experience working in inclusion support or supporting children with learning differences and/or additional needs would be advantageous. -References will be checked when shortlisted so please provide them.
