Our WA State Government client is looking for several experienced Information Release Officers for 6 month assignments through Integrity.
The Information Release Officer plays a key role within the Knowledge Management Branch, assessing and responding to requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and other legislation.
The position involves evaluating documentation, preparing formal responses, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the secure and compliant release of information.

- Start within 2-4 weeks once interviews have taken place - you will need to do some background screening before starting
- $63-69 + Super hour casual hourly rate – paid weekly (Level 4 - 5)
- Full time hours Monday – Fridays 37.5 hours per week
Duties Level 5:
- Interprets complex legislation, policies and sharing arrangements relating to the release of information under the FOI Act and to external agencies and bodies under relevant legislation.
- Develops and maintains processes for the consistent and appropriate release of departmental documents under legislative provisions.
- Evaluates confidential information and updates systems with appropriate alerts.
- Responsible for security and confidentiality of identified documents and is directly responsible for their secure storage.
- Conducts analysis and research as required and prepares recommendations for process improvement strategies.
- Liaises and consults with internal customers,
external agencies and responds to requests from the public and stakeholders in relation to the provision of information to ensure correct application and compliance with relevant legislation, policies and information sharing arrangements.
- Processes applications for document requests under the FOI Act; including the decision making process.
- Collects and analyses statistics, providing reports as requested.
Duties Level 4:
- Receives and actions applications concerning access to confidential information requested by external parties under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 (FOI Act) and other legislation.
- Provides responses to applications and liaises with internal and external stakeholders as directed.
- Assesses and analyses documents reported for release under relevant legislation, including the FOI Act.
- Implements and ensures compliance with departmental policy and legislation in relation to the release of confidential information.
- Provides advice to internal customers, external agencies, stakeholders and the public in relation to information release.
- Ensures and maintains security and confidentiality of identified documents and is directly responsible for their secure storage.
Required:
- Strong understanding of information management, governance, or FOI processes.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret legislation and assess documentation.
- High‑level written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and compliant responses.
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information securely.
- Ability to work within established frameworks, policies, and chains of command.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- National police clearance within 6 months old
- Resident / no visa restrictions
