MAKO is putting shark skin on planes to save fuel and cut emissions.

Sharks spent 400 million years evolving a skin that slips through water. Flightfilm applies the same principle to aircraft.

Your Mission

MAKO's mission is to improve the efficiency of the global aviation fleet. That means billions saved in fuel and megatonnes of CO2 every year. You'll own how Flightfilm gets onto aircraft: the process, the people, the paperwork, the standard. You'll be MAKO's technical face to our customers' engineering teams. And when something needs solving on the hangar floor, our installers look to you.

Pack a bag. This role travels ✈️

What You Will Do

- Lead the installation, quality assurance and maintenance of Flightfilm on aircraft around the world
- Build and run processes that meet the requirements of maintenance organisations and aviation regulators
- Run operational projects end to end. Answer customer queries fast, track progress, measure impact, and escalate early so milestones land on time
- Train and mentor team members and stakeholders in installation techniques, quality checks, and maintenance kits
- Own the relationships with technical counterparts at our customers. Learn their processes, and keep us compliant with them

What Success Looks Like

First month. You'll get to know the team, our processes and our values: lift over drag, active transparency, and changing the boundary conditions. You'll learn the Flightfilm installation process inside out and map the people who matter, both in our customers' organisations and in our own technical functions. First six months. You're coordinating live Flightfilm installations, holding the line on every quality standard. You're the go-to person for any technical response we need.

First year. You'll build the capacity and processes to install Flightfilm at forecast volumes. That means coordinated manuals, trained installers and QA personnel, provisioned stock and safety equipment, and complete training and traceability records.

About You

- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline
- 5+ years managing and coordinating teams in aviation. Start-up or scale-up experience is a bonus
- Experience in a technical, customer-facing role such as field engineering or technical services
- Experience working with aviation MROs
- Happy to travel often. Just as comfortable in a hangar as in a customer's engineering review

Why You Should Join MAKO

- Impact: Aviation is one of the hardest to abate industries, and its share of global emissions is only growing. Join our mission to improve the efficiency of the global fleet and save millions of tonnes of CO2 every year
- Technology: Our technology leverages the drag-reducing properties of shark skin to make aircraft more effective. You'll be exposed to expertise and developments in materials, photolithography, fluid dynamics, and scale manufacturing
- Team: Our team focuses on achieving our mission. We live our values of lift over drag, active transparency, and changing the boundary conditions, and we welcome new team members who want to do the same
- Corporate Jet: We have (most of) a corporate jet. It won't fly, but it sure does look cool

Ready?

Hit Apply and tell us about the trickiest installation or technical problem you've solved. MAKO is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from every background. Careers rarely fly a straight route, so if you're close but not a perfect match, apply and tell us why.
