We are seeking an Intermediate or Junior Accountant/Bookkeeper to join the team at HJA Accountants Pty Ltd in Parkside, SA. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting and bookkeeping skills within a professional and supportive environment. You will play an important role in supporting our clients' financial management and ensuring accurate record-keeping across various accounts.

What you'll be doing
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ledger accounts for multiple clients
- Processing invoices, expenses, and payments in accordance with accounting standards
- Reconciling bank statements and accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Preparing and lodging payroll documentation and PAYG tax obligations
- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Supporting the preparation of tax returns and ensuring compliance with taxation requirements
- Liaising with clients to gather necessary financial information and clarify queries
- Ensuring all financial documentation is organised, filed correctly and readily accessible
- Assisting senior accountants with more complex taxation and accounting matters as required
What we're looking for
- A recognised accounting qualification such as a Certificate IV in Accounting, Diploma of Accounting or similar (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in accounting software packages and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
- A solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and basic taxation concepts
- The ability to work independently whilst also thriving in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills and a qualified approach to client interactions
- Familiarity with Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
requirements and compliance procedures
- Preferred experience working with MYOB, Xero or similar cloud-based accounting platforms
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and obtaining further accounting qualifications
