About the Company The Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) is a Commonwealth Government financier, providing financial support to advance the development of infrastructure projects in northern Australia and the Indian Ocean Territories. We help grow economies and populations and encourage private sector investment across a range of sectors including resources, agriculture and water, energy, financing partnerships, social infrastructure, and transport and logistics. We support projects that deliver public benefit to the north, through new jobs, regional income, business for local suppliers and Indigenous outcomes across northern Australia.

NAIF has a $7 billion allocation of funds and has committed over $4.5 billion to support 35 projects in Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia.

About the Opportunity The Investment Director works closely with the Chief Investment Officer as a key member of NAIF’s Investments leadership team. The role leads origination, execution and industry relationship activities across various sectors, manages complex transaction processes, and provides leadership and mentoring to investment team members. It plays an important role in building NAIF’s investment pipeline, strengthening market and government relationships, and progressing transactions in line with NAIF’s mandate, risk appetite and governance frameworks.

Structuring, stakeholder engagement and clear credit paper narrative writing are core requirements of this role.

NAIF has a strong preference to recruit employees based in Northern Australia, reflecting our purpose and the communities we serve. This role is ideally located in Cairns,



however we will consider applicants from other locations where this supports securing the best candidate.

Responsibilities

- Participating as a key member of the Investments leadership team, role modelling NAIF values and behaviours.
- Originating, structuring, negotiating and executing complex transactions, including preparation and presentation of credit submissions and Board papers.
- Leading and mentoring investment team members to support strong performance, effective deal execution and development of sector knowledge.
- Driving deal processes, timelines and outcomes across proponents, financiers, advisors, government stakeholders and internal teams.
- Building and maintaining robust relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including government, proponents, equity investors, financiers and advisors.
- Developing business development and sector strategies, increasing market understanding of NAIF’s financing solutions and representing NAIF at targeted events and forums.
- Working collaboratively across NAIF to manage pipeline priorities, apply commercial acumen and support investment-related KPIs.

About You

- At least 10 years’ experience in financial or related institutions, with experience in sophisticated origination, structuring and financial or credit analysis in project finance and/or corporate finance.




- Strong stakeholder influencing and management skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, investors and financiers, government contacts, consultants and colleagues.
- Significant experience in a Director or senior leadership role within banking or financial services.
- Experience negotiating loan documentation and a strong understanding of complex financing agreements.
- Advanced documentation and structuring skills, with the ability to create clear, well-supported credit paper narratives.
- Excellent communication skills, including confidence presenting to internal and external stakeholders, Board meetings and industry forums.
- Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities, remain calm under pressure and deliver outcomes with minimal supervision.
- Experience leading, supporting, engaging and motivating high-performing team members.
