Role Description
ISRM Group is building a trusted Australian finance and accounting capability to support the growth of our firm as we prepare for a broader go-to-market pilot across Asia.
We are seeking capable Australian accountants to join our retained professional pool on a variable-assignment basis
.
This is not a conventional full time accounting position and is not intended to replace your primary employment or professional practice.
The role is designed for an accountant who wants to maintain a professional relationship with ISRM Group and remain available for accounting assignments as they arise, while continuing with their primary employment, business, practice, studies, or other professional commitments.
You will be retained within our professional network and engaged when accounting work is required.
Assignments may be occasional, recurring, project-based, or time-sensitive depending on the needs of the firm.
You will be compensated for actual approved hours worked on assigned matters.
There is no expectation that you remain continuously engaged when there is no active assignment.
Compensation:
AUD $55–$70/hour
, depending on experience, qualifications, technical capability, and assignment complexity.
Exceptional candidates with particularly strong experience may be considered at a higher rate.
What you’ll do
Depending on the assignment, responsibilities may include:
- Maintaining and reviewing accounting records and financial documentation.
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable administration.
- Bank and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- General ledger maintenance.
- Preparation and review of financial reports and management accounts.
- Expense, invoice, and transaction review.
- Assistance with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Supporting payroll and related accounting administration where required.
- Assisting with Australian tax and statutory accounting matters within your professional competence.
- Preparing financial information for management decision-making.
- Maintaining accurate and well-organised financial records.
- Supporting external accountants, auditors, advisors, or other professional service providers where required.
- Assisting with financial due diligence and review of business records.
- Providing accounting support during business expansion, new-market activity, or special projects.
- Performing other accounting assignments appropriate to your qualifications and experience.
You may also be asked to provide short-notice assistance on specific financial or accounting matters where your expertise is particularly relevant.
How the Engagement Works
This is a variable-assignment role
.
You will join ISRM Group's retained Australian accounting pool and may be offered assignments when work becomes available.
There are
- No fixed full-time hours
- No expectation that this will be your primary occupation
- No requirement to remain continuously active between assignments
- No guaranteed minimum number of hours
When an assignment is offered, you will be provided with the relevant scope, expected deliverables, timeframe, and applicable rate before commencing the work. You are free to accept or decline individual assignments, subject to the terms of your engagement with ISRM Group.
The intention is to establish a dependable pool of qualified accounting professionals who can be activated when the firm's operational requirements justify additional accounting capacity.
This model is particularly suitable for accountants who already have a primary role, accounting practice, consulting work, or other professional commitments.

Desired Qualifications We are particularly interested in candidates with:
- Australian accounting experience.
- A relevant accounting, finance, commerce, or business qualification.
- Experience working in an accounting firm, corporate finance function, or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting practices and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software and cloud-based financial systems.
- Strong Excel or equivalent spreadsheet capability.
- High attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and remotely.
- Ability to manage confidential financial information appropriately.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.
- Professional judgement and the ability to identify and escalate accounting issues appropriately.
Candidates who are studying toward, or hold, relevant professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, ACCA , or equivalent credentials are welcome.
We are also interested in capable junior accountants who may not yet hold a professional designation but have strong practical accounting experience and demonstrate exceptional reliability and attention to detail.
