Process Automation Technical Solutions (PATS) is expanding its engineering capability and is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our growing team.
PATS is a Western Australian engineering and technical services company delivering practical, integrated solutions across Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation, Process Engineering, Functional Safety, Communications and Industrial IT.
As our electrical engineering capability continues to grow, this role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of projects and client environments within the resources and industrial sectors. You will work across PATS' project portfolio, supporting clients where your experience and technical expertise are most valuable.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role suited to an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys solving problems, delivering quality engineering outcomes and working closely with clients, project teams and other disciplines.
The Chance
You will work across a variety of projects, with the opportunity to contribute to both electrical engineering and PATS' broader multidisciplinary capability.
The role will suit someone who is comfortable working independently, can step into an existing client team when required, and is confident providing technical leadership while still being actively involved in engineering delivery.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Lead and deliver electrical engineering activities across a range of client projects
- Work with different clients, project teams and operating environments
- Provide specialist electrical engineering support as part of client secondments
- Develop practical engineering solutions for brownfield and existing operating facilities
- Work alongside PATS' control systems, automation, process, functional safety and industrial IT engineers
- Develop and review electrical designs, calculations,
specifications and technical documentation
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and other team members
- Build strong working relationships with clients and become a trusted technical resource
- Contribute to the development of PATS' electrical engineering standards, processes and capabilities
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs and other project workshops where required
- Support projects from initial concept and feasibility through detailed design, implementation and commissioning

Our multidisciplinary capability means our engineers work closely across disciplines rather than operating in isolation. Our experience includes control systems, PLC and SCADA solutions, electrical engineering, process engineering, functional safety, communications and industrial IT.
We are growing our electrical engineering capability to complement these existing services and provide clients with a more complete engineering solution.
This role therefore provides an opportunity to be part of that growth and to help shape how PATS delivers electrical engineering services as the capability develops.
About You
We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer who combines robust technical capability with a practical, client-focused approach.
You will ideally have
- A degree in Electrical Engineering
- A solid background in electrical engineering within mining, resources, industrial or heavy industry environments
- Proven experience delivering electrical design and engineering projects
- The ability to take ownership of electrical engineering work and see it through from initial concept to design, implementation and commissioning.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team and coordinating electrical requirements with other engineering disciplines
- Strong knowledge of applicable Australian Standards, legislation and industry practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, and Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to work independently and confidently within client teams
- A versatile mindset and the ability to quickly understand new projects, client requirements and operating environments
- Experience working alongside automation, control systems or process engineering teams would be highly regarded.
