Jacobs Energy and Power business is at the forefront of the global energy transition, embracing unprecedented opportunities to drive sustainable change. We're seeking an experienced Principal / Lead Substation Engineer to join our Energy & Power team in Perth.

This is a growth role with genuine scope: you will help support and establish a dedicated high-voltage substation team, influence how the capability develops and work with colleagues across the broader APAC Energy and Power group. You will be supported by an established Perth business with strong infrastructure and resources capability, while contributing to a broader APAC network of technical specialists, project teams and clients. This is an exciting chance to lead and contribute to high-voltage substation engineering and design projects, including systems up to 500 kV where relevant to your experience.

Some other elements of the role include:

- Provide technical leadership across High Voltage (HV) Substations and multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with civil, structural, studies, transmission line and cable specialists.
- Deliver or oversee owner’s engineer services and, ideally, bring experience in construction support, monitoring or management.
- Review technical deliverables and maintain high standards of quality, assurance, safety and compliance with applicable electricity industry standards.
- Engage confidently with clients, contribute to proposals and scope development, and support business development through your technical credibility.




- Mentor engineers and help identify, attract and onboard the next members of the Perth substation team.
- Work effectively with local colleagues, remote delivery teams and project stakeholders across Australia.

Here's what you'll need
- Substantial experience delivering HV substation projects in a consulting, utility, contractor or owner’s engineer environment.
- A recognised technical specialisation in primary or secondary/protection systems, and the ability to work across interfaces.
- Understanding of transmission and distribution project delivery, design assurance and Western Australian electricity industry requirements.
- Clear communication, commercial awareness and the confidence to build trusted client relationships.
- A collaborative leadership style and genuine interest in developing people and building a team.
