Yarning Crescent is an Aboriginal-led commercial cleaning business recruiting a Leading Hand to oversee our night cleaning crew for a fleet and facilities contract in Western Sydney.
You’ll lead a team of approximately six to eight cleaners, ensuring the work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard before the first vehicles are ready in the morning.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly and take responsibility for the crew and site during the night shift.
THE ROLE
- Lead the cleaning crew during the night shift
- Complete crew sign-in and sign-out with the site
- Allocate cleaning tasks and keep the team on schedule
- Monitor the quality and completion of cleaning work
- Complete inspections and record results using our work app
- Respond to issues including missed cleaning tasks, graffiti, spills or incidents
- Escalate significant issues to the Supervisor
- Coach and support current starters during their first weeks
- Ensure all team members follow site safety procedures
- Ensure staff are working safely around vehicles and operational areas
- Maintain chemicals, equipment and cleaning stock on site
- Communicate with site staff and provide a clear handover at the end of the shift
SHIFT & HOURS
- Night shift: 6:30pm–1:30am
- Rotating 7-day roster
- Weekend availability required
- Part-time and full-time positions available
PAY Rates are paid in accordance with the Cleaning Services Award 2020 (MA000022), including applicable shift, weekend and public holiday penalties.
- From $32.17 per hour Monday–Friday nights
- $41.96 per hour Saturdays
- $55.94 per hour Sundays
- Leading Hand allowance from $61.73 per week
- Applicable public holiday penalties paid in accordance with the Award
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least two years' experience in cleaning, transport, warehousing or another hands-on operational environment
- Previous experience leading or supervising a small team
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure
- Comfortable using a smartphone or app for inspections and reporting
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for the shift
- Right to work in Australia
- Willingness to obtain or hold a National Police Check
- Current driver's licence
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS The following are highly regarded:
- Certificate III in Cleaning Operations
- First Aid certification
- Experience conducting quality assurance inspections
- Experience working with KPIs or performance-based contracts
- Experience in fleet, transport, warehouse or operational environments
