Our client is a global financial services business with a significant and growing Sydney presence. They are hiring a Legal Counsel to sit within an established, high-performing legal team supporting the business across the region.

This is a genuine first move in-house for a banking and finance lawyer, or a step up for someone already in a financial services legal function.

The role

- Drafting, negotiating and managing derivatives and financing documentation
- Supporting new product and new market initiatives across Asia Pacific
- Advising on licensing, market conduct and regulatory obligations alongside compliance and risk
- Reviewing technology, data and vendor agreements
- Acting as a commercial adviser to business, technology and operations teams on live issues, often at pace
- Working closely with legal colleagues offshore on cross border matters

About you





- 3 to 6 years PQE gained at a top tier or leading international firm
- Solid general banking and finance grounding. Derivatives, securities, structured finance, funds or financial services regulatory exposure all of interest
- Familiarity with the regulatory framework applying to financial markets participants
- Commercially minded, direct, and comfortable giving practical advice without layers of process
- Admitted in Australia
