The Federation of Community Legal Centres Victoria (the Federation) is a fast-paced and dynamic organisation that leads and supports excellence in the community legal sector, promotes the purpose and value of community legal centres (CLCs), and advances social justice and a fair legal system. It is the peak body for Victoria’s 50 CLCs, who are at the forefront of helping those facing economic, cultural or social disadvantage and whose life circumstances are severely affected by legal challenges. The Federation’s vision is for a community that is fair, inclusive, and thriving. The Legal Policy Manager plays a key role in coordinating and advancing the systemic advocacy and law reform priorities of Victoria's community legal sector. Working closely with the Federation's members, the role develops legal policy positions, drives advocacy initiatives and contributes to policy and legislative reform that improves outcomes for communities experiencing disadvantage.
Reporting to the Director Policy and Advocacy, the Legal Policy Manager will lead policy and advocacy projects across an agreed portfolio, coordinate and develop high-quality law reform and policy submissions, monitor legislative developments, and support strategic policy and advocacy initiatives under the Victorian community legal sector's 10-Year Plan.
The role brings people together around shared priorities, helping to build sector capacity,
strengthen partnerships and amplify the collective voice of the community legal sector.
With a strong focus on collaboration and engagement, the Legal Policy Manager will work across the Federation team, membership, government and sector stakeholders to drive social change and influence more equitable laws, systems and public policy.
