Major Events Attraction Lead
Position: Major Events Attraction Lead
Salary From: $129,183 Superannuation
Location: Logan City Council Administration Building, 150 Wembley Road, Logan Central
WE’RE NOT LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO MANAGE THE CALENDAR. WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO BUILD IT.
This is your prospect to shape Logan’s major events future from the ground up.
The City of Logan will soon launch its Major Events Plan 2026–2031. We need a proven operator with the networks, commercial judgement and drive to turn that ambition into major events, partnerships and destination-defining experiences.
Position Responsibilities:
Build a compelling major events portfolio for Logan.
Your focus will be to:
- Bring major events, visitors and investment to the city
- Generate economic activity and lasting community benefit
- Strengthen Logan’s profile and reputation
- Secure partnerships, funding and commercial opportunities
- Build a credible pipeline of future events
- Position Logan to capitalise on the opportunities leading into Brisbane 2032
- Attract events aligned with Logan’s strengths, ambitions and Logan 2075, the city’s 50-year vision
- Use evidence, insight and commercial judgement to influence investment decisions
You will work directly with promoters, rights holders, government agencies, funding bodies and industry partners to secure destination-scale events for Logan.
REAL AUTONOMY. REAL IMPACT.
This is a brand-new position.
There is no inherited formula and no established playbook. You will have the autonomy to shape the approach, build the pipeline and influence the decisions that determine Logan’s major events future.
You will have a capable team behind you, executive support and the opportunity to work across Council as part of a whole-of-organisation approach.
The outcomes will extend well beyond individual events, helping drive visitation, economic activity, community pride and Logan’s reputation as a destination.
Key indicators for success
We are interested in results, not claims.
You will bring
- A demonstrated record of attracting or securing major events
- Established networks across events, sport, entertainment, tourism or related sectors
- Commercial confidence, strong negotiation skills and experience developing business cases, funding proposals and partnerships
- The judgement to identify opportunities that deliver genuine value and the ability to take them from first conversation to final agreement
- The credibility to engage senior industry and government stakeholders
- The initiative and resilience to operate independently and deliver outcomes
- Energy, ambition and a genuine appetite to build something new
Experience across events, tourism, venue management, economic development or related industries will be highly regarded.
A relevant degree would also be highly regarded. The successful applicant will require a current C Class Driver Licence and must be able to work outside standard business hours and travel when required.

The foundations are here. The ambition is here. Now we need the person who can bring the events.
A SENIOR OPPORTUNITY FOR A PROVEN OPERATOR
This is a senior, commercially focused and outcome-driven opportunity with significant autonomy.
We are looking for the right person and recognise that the remuneration package must reflect the experience, networks and industry standing that person brings.
If you have already built the relationships, secured the events and delivered the outcomes, this is your opportunity to build something significant for an entire city.
